The Tony Tomei Collection

“When I get into something, I get into it pretty seriously” Tony says, which could explain how his accordion collection numbered close to 300 at its height.  Tony came to Los Alamos in 1986 to work at the lab as a mechanical engineer in the accelerator technology division. Tony became interested in accordions through his initial interest in international folk dancing and Eastern music. Much of Eastern music involves accordions.  While “getting into it”, Tony became an accomplished accordionist, studied under the Master Accordionist Mario Mosti, and he became a professional musician and teacher in his own right.
